Fidelia Hernandez
"In my family, embroidering blouses is an activity that has been passed down from generation to generation. I am Fidelia Hernandez. I was born in Aguacatenango in the state of Chiapas. I am an artisan in the elaboration of blouses and with beautiful embroidery in cotton thread.

?I learned this beautiful art when I was a little girl and I watched my mother make them at home in a way that I found fascinating. It was through the teaching of those skills that my mother showed me the importance of responsibility with each activity that she carried out, however simple it might seem. Every time I worked with my mother, I began to realize that I liked this beautiful craft. One of the reasons was because it seemed comforting, and helped me to concentrate more and more on my other duties. I realized that, little by little and through constant practice, I was able to do embroidery without any help. This made me make a very important commitment to my family and to myself in deciding to be an artisan. I particularly enjoy making the decorative elements; it allows me to give a special and personal touch to each of my pieces.

?At the beginning of this project of sharing our work with more people, it implied an investment of time and an incredible effort for each member of the family. We started by focusing first on what we wanted to achieve with our blouses, and that led us to create eye-catching designs and make a positive impact on our customers. For each of our pieces we use cloth, thread of the highest quality, and of course our hands that are the most important touch we want to share.

?Now our main project and focus is to share our work with more people. We wish with all our heart to transmit the passion we feel for our work; and how our Mexico is beautifully decorated with the essence of each one of us.?
