"My name is Wayan Dirga and I was born in 1969. Most of my family members are carvers, for it is a family legacy that has endured several generations. You could say I was born with a talent to carve, which I developed by merely observing my parents and relatives at work every day. My inspiration comes from Balinese customs and traditions.<br><br>"Competition is hard here in Bali, for there are many good and expert carvers. This makes the life of the carver a very uncertain one because it makes it difficult to sell our work.<br><br>"I'm grateful for what you are doing to promote artisans' works to the whole world. Hopefully, my artwork will be accepted, and I will appreciate any criticism that would improve my work."
